  • We have tried to make it as easy as possible for you to choose, order, and collect your delicious cake or tart.

We’ve also used our skills, experience, and creativity to design and bake a range of cakes and tarts that are delicious, complete, and decorated in a way that we think makes them appealing to the eye and the taste buds. We cannot mix and match our cakes or tarts, substitute ingredients or flavours, or add unicorn horns, minions, princesses, Shrek, or any other unexpected decorations.

All of our cakes and tarts are made especially for you. This means that payment must be made in full before an order can commence.

Once we have received your order, we will make contact with you to confirm details and provide you with payment information. Payment by bank transfer is preferred. Should we be unable to fulfill your order for any reason, we will notify you by phone or email as soon as possible

The earliest we can have your cake or tart ready is with four days’ notice. This means that an order for Saturday for example must be received by 2.30 pm Tuesday. This allows us to purchase ingredients and schedule production within our café bake plan.

All cakes and tarts are by collection only (we do not offer delivery service). Cakes can be collected from the café between 10 am – 2.30 pm Friday - Monday.

  • All our cakes and tarts are made especially for you, therefore payment is required in full before orders can commence. Orders are managed and planned in advance within our café bake schedule, meaning once production is underway, we are unable to offer a refund for cancellations. Payment is preferred by bank transfer or can be made in-store by cash or credit card. Please note that a 3% service charge applies to credit card transactions. In making payment, you are agreeing to our terms.

The following cancellation fees apply at the discretion of Colenso Country Cafe.

Cancellation of orders with more than one week’s notice may receive a full refund less an administration fee of $10.

Cancellation of orders with more than 72 hours’ notice (but less than a week) may receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations received with less than 48 hours notice will not be eligible for a refund. By this time we would have ordered ingredients and/or prepared components of the cake in advance meaning that there have already been ingredient costs and labour invested.

Should we be unable to fulfill your order for any reason, we will notify you by phone or email as soon as possible and you will receive a full refund.

  • You are responsible for the safe transportation of your cake or tart. Colenso Country Café does not accept responsibility for any accidents or damage that occurs once the cake has been collected. Please pick up your cake at the time specified in your order. We cannot give refunds if a mishap occurs in transit.

All cakes and tarts will be on presented on a cake disc and packaged in a cardboard box. Do not place anything on top of the box. We advise that the safest way to transport your cake is to either place it on the floor or in the boot of the car, ensuring it cannot slide around.

Do not leave your cake or tart in the hot sun or a hot car as this will adversely impact delicate cakes, tarts, and decorations.

  • Your cake is best stored in a cool, dark place. If your cake is stored in the fridge, bring the cake out about half an hour before serving to allow the cake to come up to room temperature before cutting. Keep out of the direct sun.

Baked cheesecakes and Raw vegan cakes should be stored in the fridge and bought out just before cutting.

Tarts should be stored in the fridge to preserve the delicate custard and ingredients. Re-heating instructions will be provided upon collection for savoury tarts.

To cut cake or tarts, we recommend you use a long, sharp knife and have both hot water and a tea towel or paper towels handy. A hot knife will cut through the cake and frosting more easily. Dip the knife in hot water and dry with the tea towel/paper towel in between each slice. We find it best to cut the cake, or tart, cut in half, and then decide how you will equally portion each half, depending on the size of the cake and appetites. Ensure you cover any uncut or leftover cake or tart – the air will dry out the remaining cake if left in the open.

Store any leftover slices of cake in an airtight container in the fridge. Cake will keep in the fridge for up to four days. If you choose to freeze your leftover cake, we recommend cutting it into slices first and wrapping it in cling film. Slices may be frozen for up to one month. Raw vegan cakes are very freezer friendly, although may lose some colour upon freezing. It is not recommended that baked cheesecakes or savoury tarts are frozen.

  • We are proud to say we use only the best, freshest ingredients and traditional baking methods. There is no skimping on the butter, free-range eggs, cream, or quality of the chocolate here. All cakes are prepared in a kitchen that uses eggs, dairy, wheat, nuts, soy, and seafood. We are unable to substitute ingredients and make no claims that any of our products are allergen-free. We take your health seriously and understand that some ingredients in our products may cause an allergic reaction in some people, for this reason, we cannot guarantee they are “free” from or “allergy-friendly” because we use these ingredients throughout our kitchen.
